Experience and Education
Elisabete R. Silva is an Assistant Researcher at BioSystems & Integrative Sciences Institute (BIOISI), Head of the Bioactive and Multifunctional Materials laboratory, and Invited Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Ciências of University of Lisbon, Portugal.
She is also a Research Fellow at Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente (CERENA), Lisbon, Portugal and at Environmental Health Research Centre, University of Nicosia, Cyprus.
Elisabete is dedicated to the development of innovative environmentally friendly and cleaner technologies, mainly based on chemical immobilization of functional compounds in polymeric matrices to infer protective properties on surfaces in general and applied in industrial systems against emerging waterborne bio-contaminants and for potential pollutant remediation.
In her professional career, Elisabete has also been actively involved in competitive international and national R&D projects as Coordinator, Principal Investigator (PI) and Research Member. She is currently the WG4 leader and MC member of the European MIC Network (Cost Action CA20130). Elisabete R. Silva is also an international scientific reviewer, serving on the Review Boards of the MDPI journals Microorganisms and Nanomaterials, and author of 45+ technical and scientific papers, 7 books/book chapters, 9 granted and 4 pending patents.
